Patio screen doors are a fantastic way to keep bugs out while enjoying the fresh air from nature. However, screen isn't made to last forever, and eventually your screen door will wear out and need to be replaced. Mold and Deckle

You can make your very own paper with a screen door. A mold and deckle can be made from a screen door by using the screen door section for the mold, and building your own simple deckle from scrap wood. If you're tool challenged and need a simple method to re-use your screen, simply take two old picture frames of the same size, and cut out the screen from the door. Staple the screen to one of the picture frames and you have your mold and deckle.

Room Dividers

Remove the screen from your door, and glue or staple fabric across the space that used to hold the screen. You can paint the door as well. Fasten the door to other doors, to the wall or add a "foot" for stability for a solo door and you can enjoy your new room divider.

Drying Rack

Need something on which to dry your herbs, flowers, or garden produce? A screen door can be laid across two chairs or boards to raise it off the ground for air circulation. Simply put your items that need to be dried in a single layer across the screen and you have a fantastic and easy to use drying rack that you can move to the right spot.

Jewelry Holder

A decorative old screen door can be used as a jewelry display or holder as well. Simply lean the door against the wall for stability, then insert your earring posts through the screen and put the back on the earring. For your necklaces, bracelets or other jewelry items that do not have a post, you can use wire strands to fasten the pieces to the screen. You can also fasten metal hooks to the screen to hold multiple items.
