Make Your Small Space Perfect: Studio Decorating Tips

A studio apartment may seem restricting, but it provides a certain kind of freedom. First, studios are less expensive than other apartments with rooms. This means that you may be able to afford a studio in a luxury building more easily. Studios also mean less people expecting to stay over, so you will always have your home to yourself! The biggest problem in a studio is making use of every small square footage of space. Appointing mixed use furniture will help you accomplish this feat and keep your apartment stylish.

Make your walls into storage

Walls are stagnate and, unlike other furniture, cannot be moved. Instead of thinking of walls as a disruption, use them for storage. Drill floating shelves onto the walls, and use them to hold storage. Floating shelves can hold everything from plants, to books, to shoes. Place a few shelves on each wall to act as storage that is always within reach.

Pick a bed size that is necessary

Queen is almost always the default answer when selecting a bed. However, with less floor space, you should select a bed size based on what you need. To make a proper selection, go to a furniture store and try out a few bed sizes. You may find that a full size or even an extra-long twin works just fine for you. Cover the bedroom area with a curtain to cordon it off from the rest of the space, while still letting in great sunlight in the morning.

Make items work double time

Use your coffee table and your comfy living room chair as your office headquarters if you work or perform homework at home. Your small vanity and chair hold papers on one side and cosmetic and personal items on the other. Buy an ottoman that works for extra seating when friends come over, that can hold your blankets, electric heater, and other cold weather items inside. Under your bed storage is also a must. Host items that you will not use day to day under the bed.

Go non-traditional

Who says that cupboards are only for the dishes? If you have small clothing but only have a tiny closet and dresser, fold out of season clothing and place them in their own cupboard space that is unused. Have a second closet and work from home? Consider placing a desk and chair set inside of the closet and making it your dedicated at home workspace. Use every inch of space in a way that benefits your home and life in order to make the best of your little studio apartment.

Living in the lap of luxury means having everything you need and being comfortable. In a luxury studio, you can have opulence in a tiny space. (For more information, contact Barr's Furniture)
